The Secondary School Admission Test is a requirement for admission to many private secondary and boarding schools. A two-part exam that features a brief essay and a following multiple-choice section, the SSAT measures students’ linguistic usage and application, reading comprehension, and basic mathematical problem solving.
The test is administered on two levels: Lower (for students currently enrolled in grades 5-7) and Upper (for those in grades 8-11); since spanning such a range of ages, tests are scored and assessed based on a national average.
